I am an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering, SMU, and an affiliate faculty member of the SMU Data Science Institute. I serve as an associate editor of the Journal of Statistical Software and the INFORMS Journal on Computing.

My research interests lie in the intersection of machine learning, statistical methods, and combinatorial optimization with applications in artificial intelligence, data mining, and data science (see Research page for details). An important goal is to support reproducible research by publishing high-quality software (see Software page) along with all theoretical results. My research team and I maintain over 15 widely used R packages, including arules (also as arulespy), dbscan, pomdp, seriation, stream, and recommenderlab.
